Q: What is spare change fundraising?
A: Spare change fundraising is simple, automated three-step process. Sign up, spend, support!
Donors open a SmartChange account, then connect a credit card or bank account with SmartChange.
Each time they make a purchase, we will round up their spare change to the nearest dollar.
At the end of the round-up cycle (one week, provided the total tally is over $10), SmartChange will transfer the donors' total spare change to their SmartChange recipient.

Q: What if I already have a spare change roundup with my bank or to another organization?
A: Enrolling and setting up your account takes less than 3 minutes and will NOT disrupt or affect any round-up savings programs you may already have activated with your bank.
Q: Is SmartChange secure?
A: Your personal information is always private and secure! SmartChange is backed by bank-grade security. Our trusted and experienced partners keep your data secure.
Our spare change round-up data collection process is highly secure and always prioritizes privacy. Spare change donors share the amount of their transactions and the date the transaction occurs. We use this information to calculate the total contribution amount.
Refunded transactions, banking fees, and credits are never calculated in donations.
Q: How many organizations or funds can I round up to?
A: As many as you want! You'll just go to their landing page and set up your new spare change contribution. We'll keep track of who you're giving to.
Q: Will my contribution come out of my roundup account?
A: That's up to you! You can set the payment method to be the same account that is being monitored for transactions and roundups, or you can provide a different payment method.
For example: You want to round up transactions from your checking account (round-up account) because that is where you spend the most, but you want to deduct the contribution each week from your credit card (payment account).
Q: How do I cancel my roundup?
A: Canceling is easy. Log in at www.smartchange.app. Navigate to your dashboard, scroll down to the "Round up donations" section, then choose the roundup you want to cancel. Hit cancel, and then you're done!
Q: Can I use more than one card to round up?
A: Yep! Just sign up again to connect a new debit, credit, or bank account and to start your next roundup.
Q: I was asked to verify my identity by email with a code to enroll. Is that normal?
A: Yes. We use some of the highest security standards and technologies in the financial services industry to protect your information. This means we implement a multi-step verification process when setting up your account.
Q: Can I set a limit on what my weekly round-up can be?
A: Yes! If you're concerned about your tally being too high, simply cap the limit when you're signing up.
Q. What if I'm charged the wrong amount?
